Severina Payad Ortega, 97, laid to rest on May 13, 2011, surrounded by her loving family in San Francisco California. She was born September 9, 1913 in Manila to loving parents Pontenciano Payad and Severina Ramos.

Severina spent her youth in Manila raised by a loving and strict mother who discouraged any barkadas for her children. Severina's free time was spent with her mother, sisters: Felicing, Paquita, Aurora, and brother Prascio, watching movies, buying and selling jewelry, and shopping for clothes. After completing school she wed Nazario Ortega, and became a devoted housewife and mother to: Potenciano (deceased) married to Natividad, Juanito married to Juanita, Theodore married to Teresa (divorced), Elenita (deceased) married to Jaime, and Alberto married to Victoria. Misfortune begot Severina on December 16, 1959 when she became widowed. In 1973, Severina was petitioned to come to the United States by her eldest son Potenciano and his wife Natividad, upon which her life in San Francisco began. Later that year she petitioned son, Theodore, and eventually Elenita and Alberto. Severina enjoyed family, cooking, fine perfumes and dressing up.

Severina is survived by her sons, Juanito; Theodore; and Alberto. Grandchildren, Alex; Orlando; Maria; Jane; Ramon; Roel; Carolina; Ronaldo; Rommel; Jennifer; Jason; Jineth; Janice; Jeremy; Vibeth and Albert. Great Grandchildren, Beverly; Michelle; Christine; Eileen; DanaMarie; Jesse; Joanne Mercedes; Arlene Naty; Jonathan; Jordan; Roevan; Mary Jessamine Cristel; Ron Kristopher; Kalaia; Aviana Victoria; Isaiah Nazario, and Elise Belle.

Severina was preceded in death by husband, Nazario, and two sons Nazario Jrs, Potenciano, and Elenita.
