Richard Jordan Castillo Jr., "Pie", was born on August 29, 1990 in San Francisco, California.  He was the second child born to Richard J. Castillo Sr. and Michelle A. Jones-Castillo.

Coming from a very close knit family, "Pie" always put his family first and enjoyed his role of being a brother to his sisters Erin and Alexandrea (Alley), and to his loving cousins, Crystal and "AJ".

At an early age "Pie" showed a great interest in sports.  As early as 5 years old, he started his athleticism pursuits by joining a PAL Baseball League, introduced to Pop Warner Football at age 8, and soon after that found his love for basketball, and joined an AAU League, and an Asian Team. While in high school he continued his love for sports and received numerous awards – one of which being "First Team All League" his Junior and Senior year.  Also while attending Terra Nova High School, he met and fell in love with his future wife, Carmen Marie Rodriguez.

"Pie" enjoyed camping, fishing, jet skiing, and walking his dog, Nana. He had a passion for music and enjoyed moments playing the drums with his Dad. He loved collecting baseball caps and coordinating his outfits with his matching sneakers. He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh with all of his friends and family. Pie continued to give back to the community as a tutor at Fernando Rivera Middle School and as a basketball coach at Benjamin Franklin Middle School.

Pie met and fell in love with his high school sweetheart, Carmen Rodriguez, during their sophomore year of high school. As they grew over the years, so did their love for one another. They enjoyed spending time together and were inseparable. They shared common interests, goals, and values which helped build a solid foundation for their future together. On May 17, 2010, Pie and Carmen welcomed their beautiful baby son, Dominic Jordan Castillo.  Pie was a proud father and loved Dominic with everything he had. Dominic brought so much joy and happiness into Pie's life and becoming a Dad was his true passion. Pie always made sure Carmen and Dominic were taken care of and that brought true meaning to Pie's favorite saying, Family First. On Saturday, Dec 17, 2011, Richard and Carmen were married in a beautiful ceremony overlooking the Oakland Bay surrounded by their family.

In 2010, "Pie" was diagnosed with Neuroucutaneous Melanosis, a very rare brain cancer. "Pie" never let this get in the way of living his life to the fullest. He never complained or felt sorry for himself. He always had a way of making everyone feel comfortable, loved, and welcomed.

Richard "Pie" Castillo leaves to mourn, his wife, Carmen; his son Dominic Jordan; his parents, Richard Sr. and Michelle;  his in-laws, William and ToniAnn; his older sister, Erin Michelle; younger sister, Alexandrea "Alley" Lorynn; his brother in-laws, Christopher and Nicholas; his grandparents, Christopher, Mila, Carol "CJ", and Telvis Sr.; his Uncles and Aunts, Allan, Rosanna, Tania, Tommy, and Telvis Jr.; Cousins, Crystal, Ayana, Allan Jr. "AJ", and Miles.  He also left behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and long time friends.
